Most people, like me, don't have pure SAD. Pure SAD tends towards over sleeping (hyper somnolence) and carbohydrate craving, it's been likened to a hibernation type of state. SAD is something most people have heard of so it's easier to explain it as that. It's purely a diagnostic category, doesn't make any difference to the treatment or feelings you get. Treatment is mainly lightbox for me, if I don't catch it early enough or have a bad year it's SSRI antidepressants. Making the most of any natural daylight helps as does exercise.

Cheers Claypole, I've had a few good years with it, haven't had it bad for a while. It's a blessing & a curse at the same time in that you know it's coming year on year but you can sometimes prevent it sometimes not, but can always ameliorate it. Most people with depression don't get the heads up that it's coming. Yes, smoke and mirrors is a good way to put it.

Totally horrendous week, nearly posted here multiple times over last 2 days. Managed to drag myself out to run today. Proud of what I achieved and was nice to feel the sun. The endorphins are wearing off but I haven't slipped as far back as I was yet.

HOD great point here's to a better tomorrow for us all

I feel bad saying this but I'm in a better place today, not perfect, not great but I'm coping. I can still feel that dark place lurking inside but it's been kept at bay atm. What do I do? Keep a diary to see if there's any common denominators that correspond to it or just accept its totally random and go with the 'flow'

I really hope that today is 'tomorrow's a better day' for all sufferin atm.
