Dear all,

As your thoughts turn towards the festive season may I remind you of one thing.

All decorations should be PAT tested for electrical safety before being used in offices and workspaces.

To this end I plan to carry out testing of these on Tuesday 1st December 2015, so please let me know what decorations you have and where they are located.

Thank you,

Best wishes

And you need to be organised enough to have them all sorted by December the 1st!

Our HR department have them on display (but not lit up) year-found to ensure they get PAT tested in the ordinary course of events.

I went for battery operated christmas lights to wind up the bloke from facilities. They are currently on the shelf above my desk, waiting to be deployed.

Are they exempt from PAT testing then? I used to wind up the H&S guys by standing on the desks in heels to hang the office decorations up.

AFAIK PAT only applies to mains powered or connected devices or systems

Yup, battery operated stuff doesn't need testing.

That said, just leaving stuff plugged in year round would also work as they test whatever is there when they come round.
