This was an old one I found when clearing down my mailbox.

"Morning P___,

Once in a while, I come across a candidate that makes me want to run around the office hi-fiving myself and yes it's happened today!!!

Two words to describe Bxx... (drum roll please)... "Infrastructure starlet". He is one of the most talented guys I have come across, he has an unrivalled passion for wanting to learn and progression. I've listed a brief snapshot of his skill sets below.

Key Skills:
• VMware Thinapp v5/v6 - Packaging applications to be deployed via group policy and AD.

• Active directory 2003, Active directory 2008, Active directory 2008r2 - Full admin, Creating,

• Trend security and Websense filtering Security - setting up policy to link with AD to allow or deny users visiting sites in question.

• Windows Server 2003, Server 2008, Server 2008r2, Linux, Centos.

• Admin & Support of the clients bespoke systems.

• System Center 2007 - Creating new boot images to deploy PXE boot to install ThinPc on Desktops and Laptops. Adding drivers, deleting old asset tags ready for deployment.

• Vmware 5.1, Vmware Data Recovery (VDR) 5.0.2, Vsphere ESx 4.x - 5.x, VDI, VMware View Horizon 5.1.

Q: “What does he want next in his career?”

A: Xxx ultimately wants a company where he can get really involved and have a real input in the wellbeing of a company's future. This means he comes in at a very reasonable rate too!

Q: “What are his daily rate expectations?”

A: Negotiable!

If you're interested in hearing more about Ben then give me a shout... blink and you might miss him! He is immediately available."

Last paragraph of blog on intranet by CEO:

I would also note that even the most successful business, which we were, must not just evolve, which we did, but MUST re-invent itself. The timing for doing that is critical and we simply have not got that right. Nor can we blame anyone except ourselves and as one of the leaders of the business I must take my share. However, I believe that we have hit the bottom and are already on the way back up – we will be back! My Desert Island Disc? Wow, that’s a hard one - perhaps I can equal my greatest ever response to one of these blogs, the one about Scottish independence (No vote 50, CEO 1!) by asking for suggestions. Which song title do you think best suits our trials and tribulations? The best I can do is go back to that great band I said I didn't listen to - the brilliant Bananarama and “Cruel Summer”.

Our new wireless network requires Internet Explorer 9 or later, OR an alternative browser such as Google Chrome or Firefox.
If you are running Internet Explorer 8 (which is the current standard) we recommend you install the Google Chrome or Firefox browser in advance. This does not apply to Apple Mac machines which already have Safari installed.

So , in summary - if you want to use the wireless network you need to download and install an unsupported browser. Which are incompatible with, for example, the online timesheets we have to complete if we want to get paid !!! Oh, and we can't upgrade IE as all Microsoft Software is strictly controlled by some central IT division somewhere in the US.

The incompetence in this firm is, at times, staggering

Forgive my ignorance, but in the old days we had seven "layers" in communication, which ensured that a browser couldn't possibly come into conflict with a network technology. Trust Microsoft to smash that barrier!

(PDNTSPA - I suspect this issue is due to an interface required to authenticate to the wireless network)

I just got an email from the SRA apparently its about the PCRE exercise; we need an AUS and an ORC , "the AUS or ORC can manage your data through the ORC's mySRA account". To be an AUS you can be an REL or a member of an LLP. If you are an RFL then I'm not sure, but then there is no explanation of what on earth an RFL is.

...and they wonder why no one takes any notice!
