I used to watch the Os in the early 90s, walk down from where I lived, always a good atmosphere, with "Useless Eustace" managing them and Colin West up front (always booed). Terrible times indeed.

We've had 10 managers since 2014! (but less than 26 since 1993 still)

Never got the Useless Eustace thing (although I was young at the time) - we didn't exactly do badly under him and only missed the playoffs in what is now League 1 on goal difference one year.

To be honest it mystified me too, Eustace did well and the team played quite attractive football, and I also don't like booing of the home team players, even as players of former rivals, especially as West scored over 10 goals. (He once got booed by both sets of fans as he came on the pitch, when playing Swansea as he was an ex Swans player).

Although a Birmingham fan, the Os became my second team when I lived in London for 5 years. These days my second team is Plymouth - who a couple of seasons back were in as much trouble as the Os are now. Only difference was they didn't and couldn't get an owner, whereas you are saddled with a poor one. Hoping there is some way out of it.

I would have thought that Walcott would have been picked ahead of Lingaard on current form.

Walcott was definitely the stand out omission for me.

Not picking Walcott is a bit strange.

Yeah but he's been there, failed/been unimpressive before, so it's fair.

Failed? Less good than Lingard?

Failed/been unimpressive before. England might be able to field a 5 a-side team with that strict criteria :-)

True, but I've always liked the "build a team" mentality of the not quite so goods, the more potential to be motivated and to escape the primadonna mentality that so often seems, to me at least, to dog England. I think it's hard for any England team given they are all so highly paid and pampered. However let's just say Walcott also plays for an Arsenal team that too continue to underachieve at the highest (European level). I've no problem with his omission.

Ah, the beautiful game, remember that? Let's put down some jumpers and have a socially-distanced kickabout. Long shots only, and no hugging and kissing.
