Tired, happy. Much faster than I expected and thanks also to all who shouted encouragement as you stormed past me on the course (!), and to those who hung around and cheered me in; you made a real difference and it was lovely. (As was running in with the grandchildren :-))
The other thing that helped hugely was all the advice - you lot are stars, and the best tips of the day were those that helped me get a wetsuit off in less than fifteen minutes :-)
More later, but now I'm more tired than a tired thing; it may have been slower than you guys, but it was genuinely the best I could manage and to hit the wall in a 5k takes some doing!

Probably not my last questions...

A seemingly large number of people were wearing GBR uniform tri suits. I had 'assumed' that they were members of the British Triathlon team, but then saw a couple of much older athletes, one of whom didn't look quite so much like an Olympian, and I wondered... but then I saw the time of the first lady in my age group and thought again. So... what do those GBR tri-suits represent, and does the team go right up to and include veteran old codgers?

oh yes - lots of competitors in different age groups and yesterday had ITU qualifiers.

Some of my tri club were having a go at qualifying.
