I think you could handle a Spring marathon, and it being a sub 3 attempt as well Brunski. If you're running an 80 mile week now, you're definitely on course.

First intervals for me today, 6 x 800 metres. They gave my legs a good shock, I haven't run at that effort in months!

Cheers Postie, I'd be pretty confident of breaking 3hr if I'd entered one, but I prob need a few 20+ milers though. I keep coming back to Liverpool (metaphorically speaking) as the one I might do: The course if fairly flat, takes in a lot if the city (including the Beatles sights), and would be a good spacing from my Yorkshire half, but:

- It's £50plus to enter and probably accommodation for the family to incorporate a weekend away.
- It's a coastal marathon and very exposed to the wind - either last year or the one before was meant to have been very tough.
- If I broke 3hr there I'm not sure I'd give as much training commitment to York later in the year.

LMH - last year I had a 4 week spell of illness which only left me 8 weeks to train for London...I nearly deferred.

I'd had a good January and the last 8 weeks of training went well and I ran a pb.

Don't give up there's still hope for you yet

Wow postie that's some consistent efforts you put in and at a good pace too.

I'll be doing mine next week, just a hope the wind calms down

Thanks Chris. As you may have gathered I'm starting to find it difficult to stay upbeat.

Brunski you are running really well, if you don't have the time to stick a couple of sneaky 20 milers in for a spring marathon then just keep the consistency and you should smash it in the autumn. I always find it easier to get up and out early once the mornings are lighter and the weather better. Much prefer training for an autumn marathon really - I think they should move London:-)

I have a turbo and access to a pool (used to do long distance tri before an accident a couple of years ago) but can neither swim nor ride at the moment - cuts and grazes and my hip isn't rotating correctly, would be worse on a bike than walking I think - which I still can't do without a limp.

Spent as much of yesterday as practicable with an ice pack stuffed in my trouser leg, it seems that the bursa in my hip is probably inflamed as a result of the impact. I've had trochanteric bursitis in the past and it's just (literally) a PITA rather than a reason not to run so it's not THE problem but just another side issue.

Listening to Doris this may actually be one of the few days when I'm glad I'm not worrying about getting a run in! Keep hoping I will wake up and it will all be better - maybe tomorrow eh? :-)

Shit LMH, that sounds rough! Just hope the pain eases off for you soon and you get back running, PB attempt in London or not it'll be an achievement to get back running and enjoying it again!

Thanks as well for the encouragement I think I'm erring toward your advice and plan to smash the shizzle out of York...That way I also get to see what my mates do at their spring marathons , while I'm sitting quietly under the radar making my plans to better their times come the Autumn:-)

I have no skin left on my face after 10 minutes of extreme exfoliation during mile 6 of my recovery run this afternoon. It was a good run otherwise!

Yes I went outside....in the van. Did the run on the treadmill after I got back in the afternoon :-)

Think on balance I agree with LMH re Brunski - bit late to think of fitting in a spring marathon and it might be hard to go into it fully committed, if you reckon training is going well how about finding a flat HM and giving that a blast instead?
