Cheers puzzler, I'll have a look at that, entering those training plans is time consuming. I feel more motivated for knowing what I have to do day in day out. Making it up on the fly is a recipe for bailing out on a session.

No sub-3s in the offing then? On checking the race finder I see Huddersfield marathon was today...don't fancy that much.

Glad I'm not gearing up for an autumn marathon in this weather! I did briefly consider a sneaky late entry into Chesterfield as I enjoyed it a couple of years ago, but it seems to have folded (the half is still running though). They were promising big prizes and a few fast invited runners when I previously checked the page!

My next crack at sub 3 is Abingdon, so a while away yet. I did notice that this thread has gone way quieter than the 2:45 and 3:15 threads that we're sandwiched between!

I'm enjoying not marathon time chasing at the moment, focusing on shorter distances and more emphasis on speed is making a refreshing change. I hope it puts me in a good place come Christmas when I start preparing for London next year.

I'm not skimping on the miles either, 57 miles this week in preparation for a 10K at the end of the month. I also have a 5K on Wednesday evening, I'm hoping for something in the mid to low 18 minutes for that.

For what it's worth, I've got my entry in for London next year and put my target time down as 2:53:00. No pressure! :-P

Chris
Where did you put the target time down? I only saw the bit where it asked what your actual time was

My preferred answer would have been 'It's too far away to know' but since they didn't, I had a wild stab in the dark but keeping it just about realistic.
