congrats tizer my man, cracking pb. hope your gassed in Barca I ran a surprising pb at alloa, even after my garmin ran out of charge at mile 7. 1:13.15 and 9th place finish, 31 second pb. totally surprised myself, even with how hilly this course is. |

Great run tizer - another chunk off the pb:) Alloa was a different story for me this year after knocking out pb's the previous 2. Decided to use it as a training run of sorts - running the first half steady at around 85pace and see if i could up the pace from there. It didn't quite happen and run the 2nd half pretty much the same as the first with legs feeling heavy so ended up running 84.27. I find when i don't have a target race i just piss about with training and get further away from running pb's and that clearly showed on Sunday. I've turned into a fair weather runner over the winter avoiding as much rain, sleet and wind as possible;-) |

Sounds like Alloa once again delivered on some great runs although Stoosh you're better than that by a distance. Get that training plan sorted! For any non-sub3.15 thread readers there's a rare Barca marathon blog that might help your London build up excitement |

baz, did the lack of a garmin play any part in a better than expected performance ? Can you tell how your pace was up to the charge gloing and then work out what the pace was for the remainder when you were running to feel ? It would be interesting to know how you felt you were going and what you thought when you turned the corner to see the clock....were there other runners that you could get infor from ? |

good question bazo. i think having my garmin active for the first 7 miles helped, i was able to get into my running and see what splits i was throwing out, which helped mentally, i knew the lads i was running with could maintain that for the remainder of the race, and i needed them for the hills at the end. i seem to run better in a group and i didnt want a solo run near the end. for me the pace felt the same before and after the watch died. as it turned out the group split at 12 miles but i could still see the two infront which again mentally helped. i was able to gauge the distance, and tried to keep in touch as best as i could. going around the last corner was unbelievable. i didn't believe that i could run that sort of time on that course. mentally i needed that run for london. i had such a crap run at the national xc that i thought i had no speed in my legs. just goes to show us how bonkers this world of running is. |

Fantastic time Bazp. Interesting how it went with and without Garmin. You've clearly got great speed for a road mara. G
