I'm eating regularly on longer runs - and therefore drinking, as much to wash it down as for the fluid. I think it's good practice, needed or not - cos I will surely need it in the eventual race.

Getting back into the swing of marathon training, another good long run with some threshold intervals today. Don't think I've put in as many hours as I did last summer for the sept. marathon, but I suppose that's to be expected given the season. Next few weeks are surely crucial if I'm going to enjoy/survive the race this time!

Only managed one previous marathon (FLM 2006) in a time of 3.36. This year I plan to do two (Bournemouth and Lanzarote). Goal is to achieve a sub 3 at one of these races.

Chris
Well my last post here said how easy I was finding long runs compared to last year.....that will teach me to speak out.

That was 2 weeks ago, since then I've had a vomiting bug which lost me a week, then just as I was feeling better I caught a virus which left me with hot sweats, lack of energy and a really annoying chesty cough.

I still have the damn cough and it won't go away, I've already lost 2 weeks of training, which is going to ruin my plans for Feb, but I'm getting a bit concerned that I may have to skip a Spring marathon if things don't improve soon.

2014 was great to me health wise, so far I'm not enjoying 2015!

Hope things pick up, Chris. Feeling a bit run down myself with slight cold and sore throat but main problem so far is finding time to do a proper long run. General mileage going ok though and managing the odd interval session - did 8x1k off 100 walk yesterday, splits:
3:29 3:24 3:25 3:24 3:26 3:30 3:28 3:27
So speed is there, I think - just got my usual endurance problem

Excellent pace abdou. Time for me is also a problem. Difficult balance between kids, wife, work etc. However running is importan to my well being so I have to squeeze a long run in somewhere :-)
