It's quite quiet on here these days. I hope everyone is having a good summer of training.

I've decided 100% not to do a marathon this autumn, it was highly unlikely after London that I would tackle the distance again so soon anyway. But I will definitely try for my sub-3 one day (probably within the next 12 months).

At the moment I'm still recovering from my HM fall almost 7 weeks ago and focussing on the next item on my running bucket list which is to complete an ultra. I've entered my local 40-mile off-road ultra at the end of September. Although I'm still suffering the occasional twinge from my broken ribs (yes, turns out I broke ribs on my epic fall along with all my other bashes and cuts) and the bones on both knees are still bruised, I have started my endurance training and am loving it.

I wasn't sure how I would cope with multiple long runs as these are the one part of marathon training which I really loath but perhaps it's the nice weather at the moment or more probably the fact that I'm not worrying about my pace but I'm really enjoying them so far. I'm up to 17 miles and did 3 LR's last week (well, 2 LRs and one 14.5 mile run) and 2 so far this week.

I've got my first 'comeback' race on Tuesday evening but it's just to get me back out racing as I miss it rather than me expecting anything good time-wise. I have done very little speedwork owing to my still unhealed injuries (see my blog from yesterday if anyone wants more info!) but my recent weight-loss and endurance building shouldn't have done me any harm.

I'll not take over the thread any more as I'm not marathon training but just wanted to pop on and say hi to everyone.

crikey claire, take it easy. hope your endurance training is fun.....

im now head first into another batch of marathon training, this time for frankfurt. hope the weather helps me get the miles in, so far ive twinged my back building a trampoline for my daughter and pulled a muscle in my right thigh. joys.

so..Si, can you stick me down for 2:39:59 for frankfurt , same as Tom C :)

It'll be more of a stretch for me than you Baz! :) That said most of the people I train with have cracked it now, so no excuses - going to give it everything I have got....and two years on from 2.45 and finally, 18 months of injury free, if not consistent running, should see me pretty close.

I think you have all the speed in you need to go sub 2.40 mate. Most of the people I train with hadn't broken 34:30 for 10km when they did it :)

Not sure whether I should put my name in the hat or not. I'm planning to do the Chelmsford parks marathon on the 19th October but I'm not sure what form I'll be in. Some fool booked a 3 week holiday to Florida at the beginning of September which could ruin my training plans.
