Bit of a drab shuffle, frankly, but a run's a run.

Extremly close fly-by from an owl added some excitement to my run. Not sure which of us was more surprised, but it flew away so slowly I had time to get a quick picture.

On the back of a work day, having had to cycle to and from work. The dogs needed a run out - so did I! The dogs managed to get under my feet and I had to be on at them all the time to get on. Ah well, got out.

Legs felt like lead after PT session last night. Didn't wear my usual shoes and ran out of pavement on a busy road. So kind of frustrating, I suppose!

First lap at speed was hard work but the second felt easier in spite of being about 15 seconds per km quicker.

Steady rain and a 20mph SW wind made this morning's 5.3 miler on the beach more challenging that it needed to be.

icelandic trigirl
I've been a bit of a slob since a triathlon which is now nearly 2 weeks past, but I needed a break from "training" so I could just enjoy myself again. Truth is, I've done hardly anything. But today, I biked out to the local forest* with a plan to jog around. I found a path going up the cliff and decided to take it, even if I had to walk because it was steep and uneven and I was scared I could fall and break my leg and die of exposure, given that I was alone, my cell phone battery was on the way out and maybe there was no signal anyway, and if I put it on to check, then maybe I would use up what little battery was left and... well, ok, you get the idea.

It looked like this:

I have rediscovered the joy that is "running" as opposed to "training". I probably only went about 10k in total but it was wonderful.

*OK, it's in Iceland, I know all the jokes.

A struggle, more to do with my mood than the route or the rain.

My first run of starting again. A lovely little plod around Bute Park in Cardiff in the rain.
