This reminds of Jim Walmsley taking part in the runner survey for the Western states. They ask a range of questions like which GPS watch you use, socks etc. They asked him which light source he was planning to use and his answer was “the sun”. Ironically he missed a turn so finished after dark with a borrowed head light

it's an interesting question. If someone if looking to do a night run, I'm not sure an ultra where there's 30+ hours of daylight and 8 hours of dark would be what they are looking for?

I was considering a last minute entry to Fellsman as I've just lost 2 weeks of training due to yet another bout of Covid, and it seemed like a way to play catch up (and I love the event) but K had arranged a surprise (not so much now) posh birthday meal for Saturday night so I've decided not doing so is the better idea. It's also probably the best idea health-wise too: a tough event a week after a nasty virus is probably not that sensible (especially as I DNS'ed a reverse London marathon last night due to feeling too weak).

I think I'll put it in the diary for next year.

Got something to say?
