I think they run it in a different direction every year.

One direction one year the other direction the next year. A race unlike no other that I have done. But they don't have the boiled spuds at every aid station. The first year that I did Comrades I left it too late and didn't get one. :(

You can do Comrades as an out and back. But it's a long wait between legs ;-).

If you miss the spuds at the official aid stations there are plenty of locals on hand with supplies. I'd have taken some of the barbequed delights they offer too but I don't eat meat.

You don't have to worry about making sure you miss Badwater any more V'ra, not since the US nanny state got their hands on it and stopped the race from happening (and in doing so increased the risk as people will end up dying doing it solo...)

Even knowing that it would be rebellious and illegal and a two finger salute to the nanny state doesn't make Badwater sound any more appealing.

Not a concern for those of us who can't afford fancy receptacles and will be carrying our spuds in old jam jars that taste of paint and turpentine.

Flanker, is Badwater definitely not happening? I read some article that the organiser was in touch with the National Park authorities and that they'd come to some sort of "agreement". Not that it troubles me, I can't see me putting in an entry form anytime soon :-)

The chap who gave me a lift back from where I dropped at Tahoe 200 was talking about Badwater, he organises races in the national park too.

It sounds like "common sense" will prevail and it should be back on the old route next year - although I'm with others on this thread, it's not on my list!
