Less yelping today. Vet tried to call but I was in a meeting. Couldn’t get them back. We’re keeping walks relatively short and trying to keep him calm.

Albie’s doing ok. He still has diarrhoea - I’m feeding him rice and chicken and he had some scrambled egg (suggested by vet). He’s mostly ok in himself - a bit more sleepy but still playful etc. I’m hoping it will settle quickly - it’s tough preparing rice and chicken rather than giving him kibble. The dog walker will keep an eye on him tomorrow when she does her visits and thankfully he’s so far had no accidents in the house.

When I put Skye on rice & chicken, I cooked 2-3 days worth at once & kept it in the fridge. A large pot, several portions of chicken, a cup of rice & a litre of water. Simmer until thick (about an hour). Cool, fish the chicken out & shred it off the bone. Mix it back in & refrigerate until needed. Bit of a pain, but as we aren't going anywhere, it wasn't too bad.

Thanks WL. I’ve cooked up some for today and will let the dog walker know where it is. No idea on quantities but I’m sure he’ll survive! Poor guy has no idea what is going on with his food (I usually use it in kongs, snuffle mat, doing training etc). He’s still not right and his tummy is still a bit runny but he seems to have energy and appetite so I guess that’s good. He’s a little more snoozy/cuddly than normal - actually a nicer pup 😂
Dog walker will let me know how he is when she visits. Hopefully we can avoid accidents as he’s not been pooing huge amounts and has been able to hold it so far.
I’m not at all used to all this responsibility as I never had kids and sometimes feel I can barely manage looking after myself so the whole puppy thing and now the poorly puppy thing has been enormously stressful! Hopefully over time I’ll be much more chilled with it all.

How are all our lovely pups doing?
2 updates for arlo, both revolving around what comes out his backside.
Firstly, he currently has a bit of diarrhoea but has been some blood in it (last time was due to him straining too much). Had his glands done on Wednesday, so I half think possibly an infection. Giving him probiotic paste and monitoring.
Secondly, he had an OK ish poo at some point today behind the fencing for the flower bed (don't know how he got behind it). He has then later on, stepped in it, and then ran it all around the house. Just lovely.

Bless wee arlo
Over here we spent £200 taking Chester to emergency vet (do have insurance but excess isn’t much less than that so didn’t bother) as he had a red swollen eye he couldn’t open fully. Don’t want to mess with eyes, but by the time we were at vet hospital it was almost normal. They checked no surface damage so seems he just irritated it
Does the constant worry about every little thing ever get better?!

Well, just as we got into the swing of the dog walker taking Skye out each week day while we have the kids at home, she comes on heat. So that's on pause for three weeks. Perhaps I'll get my lunchtime walks back though, because I can keep her on a short lead & avoid others. Not ideal timing though!! Couldn't she have waited until the kids were back at school??
