I paid a few quid extra by getting Cleo's at 'Pets at Home' rather than buying it online. If you're unsure of which size / model to get, you can try them out in the store before you buy. Cleo is a Whippet, so she's an unusual combination of skinny yet deep-chested, and needed one that had lots of adjustment points!

I use George's everyday harness with an adjustable strap that hooks onto it and plugs into the seatbelt thingy.

When I said Hattie was a picky eater...well, she has eaten precisely nothing yet today I don't think she's off-colour, and she's not pining for son1, but she really doesn't seem hungry. Flossie can't understand it

It does work pretty well, D2. The only thing is to make sure you can adjust the strap to be short enough that you don’t get a nosy dog appearing between the front seats...
LD, Rory often doesn’t eat well if we’re not at home - I don’t know if he’s too distracted or too excited or not relaxed enough or what. He does maintain his interest in treats and human food though.

Wanda goes in the boot/hatch with a dog guard usually, although we only have one dog guard. She has a doubled ended lead though so if in the car without the guard she would have one end clipped to her harness and the other to a little bar for clipping things on that is in the boot (and I have no idea what else it is for if not to clip a dog to!)

I confess that though our dogs have always ridden in the boot of our estates or hatchbacks we've never used a dog-guard or harness. They all lie down on the floor of the boot, against the back of the back seat but I suppose that's not really good enough is it

LD your insurance could be invalidated if they thought a dog was loose in your car at the time of an accident.
Ernie is usually in the boot with a dog guard. I once totally forgot that I’d taken the guard off. I suddenly had a dog in the front with me. Luckily we were still on our street and not on the main road. For long journeys or if the boot is full of luggage he travels in the back with harness and short tether. He likes to snuggle into QP.
