Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

So, who is La Caceta? Is it the head honcho himself?

I’ve not read as many as I would’ve liked this year. I persevered with TLOB, OTBH was my choice and a book I already knew, and Golden Notebook one of previously read.

Apart from that I’ve not read more than a page of any other choice, for which I apologise. I will do better next year.

Actually, I lied. I also read Kindred which I didn’t think was very good. I also have Dunces under way. I also swerved Cold Comfort Farm on account of having already read it.

I also start all my sentences with the words “I also”.

Sometimes I also finish them that way, or insert them in the middle.

I’m about half way through this book now, it’s very interesting to revisit all your well-informed reviews as I’m reading.

The blur of fiction and non-fiction doesn’t bother, perhaps because I know nothing of the truths to be irritated by the fabulations.

I was interested to learn of the original title as the translated one doesn’t really work, in my opinion. In a way it seems more to me about (crazy white) men who cease to be understood by the world and whose own alienation leads to destruction and self-destruction, with the work they do being obscure and meaningless, and in some cases, plain wrong.

But I ought to finish the book before I make any further comment.
