Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

What were you shamefully old when you first realised . . .

As a small-town Scot, I was 14 before I realised that pizzas were not designed to be deep fried.

(Obviously those Findus french bread pizzas went in the oven, but they weren't authentic, were they?)

Love Lettuce
TMW I made that discovery about setting the timer on the washing machine last month!

It wasn't until I lived in Leeds in my 20s that I learnt what side of the border some places are. I'd always assumed that Carlisle was in Scotland because it 'sounds like it should be' (don't ask me why).

Too Much Water
Love Lettuce - the really infuriating thing was I used to get up early to put laundry on so it would be finished in time to go on the washing line!

I might have to stop looking at this thread. At age 42 I’ve learned Pontefract is not a Welsh town.
