Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

The experience will be useful and I suspect will give you hunger for more. You may well pb three or four times on the trot now.

Well done allmatthew on grinding out a result, sounds like an ordeal that most of us in here have experienced ourselves.
I've also got an entry in for Mancs 23, so something to train for over the winter ( apart from the ultra 5 weeks before ;-) )

Thanks all, for your kind words. Just to make my tilt at Manchester 2023 all the easier, I signed up for the Hebden 22 at the end of January. At least I'll get good at hills!

Congrats on sub 3:15 all Matthew and a big chunk! A tough last 8 miles is an absolute rite of passage. If you haven't had one or two of those then you haven't had the true marathon experience. My marathons 2 and 3 were exactly that. Still got sun 3.15 and PBs, just rather the hard way. Whereas 4 and 5 were somewhat better experiences! But they are meant to be hard! If they were easy everyone could do them. And absolutely not everyone can!

Rest up and bask in glory! :-) G

I clearly doled out decent genes...

1:26/1:22 split for an untrained injured youngster. I was nearly as emotional at the end of that as I was at the end of my first mara.

Not too shabby Larkim. You’ll need to move up to Ultras if you want keep the young upstart in his place ;-)

Yep, debut in a race. He's the reason I run, just delighted he finally got to toe the line after the last couple of years. If he can clear up a hamstring injury that he's had for the last two years he might be able to run fast sometime 😂
