Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

All, many thanks for the words of encouragement, maybe I will lurk with the odd intent, thanks for the valuable feedback.

Lou, many congrats on your Daughter :-)

Ref avatar that has been a while, and its a stone that was painted for me by one of my running club who has the gift of painting on stones and giving them to people in a fun way :-)

onwards and upwards

PS may not be a mara, but do want to see how hard I can push myself to get back under 20 min for 5k (not done so for over 2 years, but this has just whetted the appetite to try again.... best this year is a 21:07... work to do and weight to loose.....

Have already passed on my wishes on RFJ's blog but reiterate what others have said here - continue to contribute in this thread, by all means. Though could understand if you want to step away from running threads for a while too. All the best.

In answer to lark's question - bleep all running here on hols! And handful of 5 - 8 mile necessity jogs. Just can't find the time with all the family about. But it's about priorities, and running isn't really a priority for me just now, just a fun activity to do when I can! :-O Sacrilege!

Bazo, some great training, but think you need a bit of R&R. Hope hols are restful. :-) G

Does any else look at this analysis? I haven’t before. Makes me think that I might be being a bit foolish - same preparation, expecting a better outcome. Anyone willing to share their charts? Would be good to see if others show a more encouraging trend!

interesting - I'll happily share mine (when i figure out how to post an image). It seems to select just 5 events.

I guess I could draw some conclusions from the graphs but I believe that the environmental conditions on race day have probably had a bigger influence on my outcomes than anything I can see here.

I take the point about the futility of keeping inputs the same and expecting outcomes to improve though.

Really interested found a few nice graphs in there which I didn’t know existed.

This one is particularly good.

The pace breakdown of mileage is really good.

Looking at marathon breakdowns. Loch Katrine was in training for an ultra so I’m only really comparing between Loch Ness 2018 and buildup for Chester so far.

Mileage is definitely on an upward trend and I do feel fitter than this time last year interestingly average pace is the same but volume has increased with a longer preparation build up of 16 weeks this year.

Will find out in just over 7 weeks if it has worked. 😃
