Tomorrow I start a new job. I may as well put my masters to use so I've taken an 18 month contract at my local university lecturing and doing placement pathway coordination. I think it's going to be interesting but after almost 2 years of NHS hospital site management (Think bed management with lots of extras- like fire evacuation, cardiac arrests... and a fair few more) what could go wrong?

Last summer they removed the ability to pay by credit card, and without a UK bank account I couldn't pay by DD either, so I got into arrears. They have passed the account to a debt collection agency who were nicer to deal with, would take a CC payment, and a lot more sympathetic than anyone I have had the misfortune to deal with at the SLC. It really ought not to be that way! At least they have now sorted so it can be paid by international bank transfer, for a fee...
