Lammo, me and some mates went to Mont Tremblant for a fortnight including Christmas a decade or so ago. It was a good trip but I think we all decided that we wouldn't repeat it, preferring to see family instead. We went away skiing together another couple of times after that so it wasn't the group dynamic that was at fault. Slopes were quiet on Christmas day though ![]() |

Had our first Christmas away last year, L2A had a great time, they really put on a good Christmas celebration. Christmas lunch was a turkey and brie panini followed up with banana, nutella, cream and rum crepe ![]() Off 2 days before Christmas this time round for the week. Jnr is at school and OH is a teacher so we can only go in school holidays, the way school hols have fell the last 2 years have meant we can only go Christmas week. The two years before that we were away for New Years eve (first year we had a Swedish New Year in AdH - Swedish owned hotel), the year after we had an Austrian New Year - it was like Beirut on the stroke of midnight, everyone starts lobbing fireworks at each other. Dangerous as anything but a lot of fun. |

I would love to do Christmas, but the prices are a bit rich for what turns out to be less skiing than normal. Mayrhoffen is lovely, unless you get a hotel room over-looking the 'lively ice bar', then you wont sleep for a week :-/ |

Prices at Christmas are a lot better than New Year, and half term. But if the OH didn't teach and we didn't have Jnr we'd be going during term time where it's half as much still.

We have found some great deals direct to the chalet, but as you say, term time is much cheaper. We have talked about getting the whole family out for Xmas, but some of them don't ski, and it seems a waste. It would be lovely out in one of those little Swiss villages though. |

Snowed in the alps over the last few days. Depends where you're going in Slovenia - this is probably likely to fall as rain wetterzentrale.de This as snow wetterzentrale.de |

Well..... ![]() Went to collect my 12 y.o. son from the school disco last night only to find him hobbling about within a group of concerned teachers. He'd slipped on a drink someone had spilled and collided with a concrete post, knee first. After several hours in casualty, we were sent home, he with his leg bandaged from heel to upper thigh. He goes in to the fracture clinic tomorrow but the X-rays were not looking good. Somehow, I don't think we'll be taking him skiing in Austria this Saturday! |
