Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Sorry LG, only way to finish outside the castle is to go up. I really like those trails, makes it interesting.

The proper route should be runable again very soon, it will be a little more challenging.

Around 50% of our runners are first timers, had a massive group this morning for the first timers brief.

Boston parkrun was a lovely route and had very friendly locals. It was great to run with Fenland Flier and chat to Bobbyboy. We sat with three generations of the Eglinton family in the cafe who were so nice and showed us how to get the extra parkrun stats on our phones and I realised that it was my 20th different parkrun today. Now annoying shanksi by telling him which parkruns we should aim for 😀

Crathes Castle parkrun is one of my faves and I'll be back when it's the 'proper' route.

As RD today I had two brand-new volunteers on timekeeping. I explained that they each have two stopwatches because the Junsds (?sp) can only count up to 500 and we often go over 500 finishers. I briefed them about starting both watches on Go!, and that they should use one watch up to about 490, then swap to the other watch (helpfully labelled '500+' ) at about that point, to make sure we captured everyone's finishing time and position. They understood, and agreed to swap over at 480 'to be sure'.

Except in the excitement, they forgot. Until runner 514. :-( (We had 599 finishers.)

Ah well, best endeavours and all that.

(Incidentally, we thought that we might have been able retrieve the times off the watches but everything we tried, no dice. Does anyone know of a way?)

I was volunteer coordinator at Brighton & Hove parkrun this morning. I am eternally grateful to the three D of E youngsters who helped me out this morning.

Even with my hearing aids in, I still miss a lot of what people say. These three young ladies helped me sort out the volunteers, handed out the hi-viz, wrote down the names of those who hadn't emailed in etc. To cap it all, I then joined in the run while they took on other volunteering duties.

I shall make sure that when the time comes for me to write up there assessors reports, they will get a glowing recommendation.

Richmond parkrun this morning - was considering either Peckham Rye or Sunny Hill but early starts can wait. My time is back around what it was when I started doing parkruns in 2014 (although that was Cannon Hill and Richmond is hillier) - still, onward. Richmond being a single lap is good even if the start does get a bit crowded and that first straight is long. Plus, Richmond Park which is scenic joy.
