Lots to read but generally seems all positive 🙂 I have prescription Fexofenadine @alehouse which I take all year round and works well most of the time. I love a Panama hat @Torque Steer I am mostly seen running with a cap. Prefer it to a sweatband and I do sweat 😅 I am taking part in a 10k race on Friday evening @Welshpoppy but no big aims. It is part of the 10 k series our club is doing and is round the Lotus test track at Hethel, that's not going to be warm is it ?🤣 I think you might like these stats @NZD as they really show not to worry too much about what our gadgets tell us !! On my run this evening I had three different VO2 max readings. For my warm up 52 , for my sprints 51, and finally for my cool down 53. Good job I didn't get too upset when I lost a point for my VO2 max session 😆My run was done in 26 degrees, breathing not too bad. |

Welcome back @alehouse it must have been a shock getting you ars* felt on the highstreet. What did the passers by think 🤭 Sounds like they gave helpful advice though. Good luck with the 10k solo. I've got a 6 mile race tomorrow with similarly no aims. Good v02 max in any case for your sesh. |

@Solo how strange that your VO2 max would vary over such a short duration - looks like you weren't working hard enough on your sprints and got marked down ![]() Don't think I am going to look at mine for a while ![]() Mmmm 10k on a race track which has been baking in the sun all day .... In Formula 1 they worry abut tyre degradation in such conditions so look out for your shoes! @OO62 a 6 miler is a rare beast nowadays in the increasing metrication of distances - hope it goes well A cunning short cut last evening missed out all the big hills and I largely stuck to my 1 min walk/run intervals and managed to get back to the pub first after only completing 2.62 miles ![]() Early coolth this morning for a pleasant 2 miles of the same in 26 min. HR ridiculously high on the hill back home at 136 - ah well, long way to go. Good news is hamstring continues to behave.. Wordle in six ![]() |

Hope the race went well @OO62 I received my England email today with a list of runners. They are super speedy in my age cat. Will definitely be a case of enjoy the occasion and not worry about position 🤣 Hopefully see you there for the photo. @Torque Steer I did the race a couple of years ago in similar conditions and said never again! Club was a runner short and race only half full so I agreed 😊 Definitely more about completing and getting points. Tis good hamstring is behaving 😊 Good news on the foot @Welshpoppy An easy hour with a few strides this evening. VO2 Max today was 53 and temperature 25 whilst running. Hay fever does seem a little better 🙏 |

I got that too solo. 11 in my cat and if they all turn up I think I'll be about mid pack. 2-3 super fast guys who should scoop the medals. I tell myself it good to race against the best 🤔 I've also entered the BMAF 10k which a different 10k in Newcastle in November if you fancy the double. No qualification needed. Great news WP hope it stays that way. Good news on yhe hamstring TS and your podium to the pub even via a shortcut. My reace was in fact a 5 miler as the course has been changed. Nevertheless I got 1st V60. |

Well done on 1st M60 @OO62, even if 'only' 5 miles 😁. Problem with some local races, M60+ is the oldest age category. So I'd be competing against you. Yikes! All the best for your race on Friday @Solo. Hopefully later in the evening after heat of the day has dropped off. Impressive VO2max figures, even more so in 25 - 26C heat. Good news re foot @Welshpoppy. Hope it stays that way. Nice 5+ miles yesterday. Ditto re your hamstring @Torque Steer. Yeah, and great hash podium finish 😁. Time to start extending the runs? Or let things settle a bit more first? Any further improvement in the hip, @alehouse? Slightly faster excursion around estuary this morning (8.7k x 6:20). At cost of higher HR of course (127/140). Still, a small improvement in HR*pace (804 b/km). In the right direction, though still a way to go. Have registered for a short (4km, flat) XC on Saturday. Mainly to support the club though I suspect we will still fall one short of four in M60+. Hence no M60+ team points 🙁. Did tell them I won't be pushing hard as will still only be 11 days post-symptom onset. |

You are right NZD they were 10 year age categories. My 67 years old club mate was not impressed either. Not surprisingly most winners were at the low end of the category.

@OO62 well done on the AG place - not so good on the lack of other AG categories! Was it a road race or off road? @Solo well you will know hat's coming ![]() @Welshpoppy annoying that it has come back overnight. Bedclothes weight? @NZD getting back in the groove but infection, long air travel and changes in routine all adversely affect performance. You are doing well to overcome them so quickly! Thanks for the virtual podium finish - likely to be the only one for some time to come ![]() Lovely cool breeze early doors despite strong sunlight and it encourage me to extend slightly to 2.8 miles of walk/run in 34:30 with HR 119/143 the latter on the very steep hill home with a neighbour watching me ![]() An exercise in symmetry Wordle in two ![]() |
