Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

That's a fair shout SPR, not sure if me putting in a daft high max HR affected it too, as it seemed accurate to a point but when I got up to 150+ bpm (I now know my max to be around 165), it went ape and jumped up really suddenly. I might tinker with the max I put in, wear both and compare readings one day.

Maybe it was trying to be clever, knowing my HR wasn't marching the paces I was running at going by my max? Anyway more than happy with my Garmin 😀

Brunski, the max you enter won't have any effect on how the HRM reads your HR, they are not related.

Thanks for the responses guys!
Did some research/reading (particularly on the dcrainmaker site) and came across the Polar M400 with chest strap heart monitor.

amazon.co.uk

It seems to have generally favourable reviews. I only really want it to tell me by HR and m/m pace. I'm not a massive stats geek :D

Wouldn't expect it to make a difference but worth a try before it gets any deeper down in the draw of my dining room that is now my running apparel graveyard 😀

Don't particularly like racing with a strap on.....that is racing whilst wearing a HRM strap btw 😂

Face: the polar will be a good heart rate monitor (they've been making them for years), no idea on the gps bit of it though (I suspect it'll be good, but have no data to back it up)

Brunski: the Scosche hr straps are good for racing (and any other non interval work)
