My 11yr old niece was over on NYE she came in to ‘the room’ and said oh is this the room where all the clutter goes! I explained the process to causing such devastation in my home and the plan to decorate the spare rooms. She then said if you empty one room you can decorate it and then move everything from another room until you’re finished. Explaining about sorting the stuff out she said just throw it away if you don’t need it anymore. Shame she lives in France she would be a great motivator! Laid up with a chest infection then I’m on it if an 11yr old can see the process I need to man up!! |

I watched one of the Marie Kondo programmes last night. I’d read her book a while ago. Now my tea towels are all nicely folded and the drawer where they live is tidy.

I tidied my underwear drawer last night. All my socks and knickers are folded, I binned some snagged tights, but the bras are impossible to make look tidy. I also binned 5 nail polishes which pre-date at least one of my children. Baby steps. |

I found bras stacked best when laid out open, cups stacking on each other. You need a drawer deep enough though (depending on if you have large cups like me!)

Combining decluttering with recycling/ reusing, someone in town is making things she calls Morsbags (there's probably a link) and is appealing for pieces of fabric to make them with. Almost anything is usable, she says.
