Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I've seen a number of Sand Martin reports for Derbys/Notts area as well jacdaw. They must be well happy at being the first here! ;-)

No sand martin (or chiffchaff) seen in Wharfedale today and I scanned a decent chunk of it (Addingham to Appletreewick and back ~ 18miles). Birds seen included:

Mandarin
Goosander
Moorhen
Heron
Dipper (maybe a dozen)
Oystercatcher (inc a flock of approx 50)
Redshank (pair in with above :))
Curlew
Buzzard
Red kite
LTT with mandatory Goldcrest ‘minder’
Pies and grey wagtail
Mistle thrush (several seen but none singing, oddly)

I think the sand martins will be regretting leaving Africa, FF.

I saw my sparrowhawk again today; I think it is probably a young male. Quite warm coloured back, but much too small for a female, and reddish on the front.

Nice to see 50 oystercatchers, DT!

Things might be arriving in the East, but they don't seem to have got over to the West yet! Several hours in Grizedale Forest around the tarn and saw pretty much nothing that we can't see in the garden at home. Think we heard crossbills, but they weren't coming out into the open.

I usually see lots of (presumably) house martins whizzing about by now here in Austria but no sign of them yet as we are still in deepest winter this week.
