Back from 2 weeks boating in the West Indies. Most of my bird photos are unidentifiable blobs, but have some interesting ones that i might put up in the next few weeks as nothing else important is happening. First off are the Egrets of St Kitts, an island of 40,000 people and 60,000 egrets. They like these trees because they are so thorny that predators such as rats can't climb them, and they don't appear to have any avian egg snatchers. |

Flanker: "Need to come to East Anglia J2R - we've had 3 GWE on the local RSPB reserve all autumn." I actually live in Norfolk, but haven't been to a reserve for a while. Must get to one soon and see a GWE. Where are you meaning? Lakenheath?

I had a robin in the garden this morning. He sat on a snowy branch and practiced for his audition for a Christmas card

Love that DT! J2R -there have been reports of GWE all over the region, but the ones I've seen a number of times are at Fen Drayton Lakes. There's three of them and they helpfully spend a lot of their time just in front of the hide ![]() |

Still frequent reports of GWE around the area on the CBC site (along with some other interesting ones that might require a few afternoons out) cbcwhatsabout.blogspot.co.uk |

Avocet of pictures ... Chrisity - your trip sounds amazing. I'm a big fan of reptiles too and I think there are quite a few different species in that island group. My pal is working in Antigua at the mo and I'm looking after her flat. I must check in with her on wildlife spotting. I don't think she knows I'm a birder, although she sent me a vid of pelicans circling in the morning. |
