FERC - Fetch Everyone Running Club

Fetch Everyone Running Club (FERC) is now affiliated to UK Athletics, and we are proud to announce that we are taking applications for membership. Annual fees for the year beginning 1st April 2011 are £15 for first-claim members, and £10 for second-claim members. Of this fee, £5 will go to UK Athletics to cover affiliation costs. A small amount will be used to cover administration costs, and the remainder (hopefully about 99%) will be donated to a running- or sports-related charity or good cause, at the end of each financial year.

How do I apply?

Just fill out the online application form, then send us your money via Paypal or if you really have to, by cheque. Please note that we charge an extra £1 via Paypal to cover the cost of the transaction, but a first class stamp is 41p these days, so you're really only paying 59p for the privelege, plus of course there's envelopes, ink, and all that time you'd lose doing your fancy joined up writing.

What do I get as a member?

As a member of FERC, you will get the following lovely things:

  • Cheaper race entries (normally £2 cheaper than the price charged to unaffiliated runners)
  • The chance to get one of a maximum of five London Marathon club places (we get 1 place for every 50 first-claim runners)
  • A prestigious FERC membership card, with your name written on it in pen

What is the official club reference number?

A lot of races these days need you to provide a club reference number, and some race organisers regrettably don't realise that Fetch Everyone also has a running club. Our number is 2662424, if that helps.

What about kit?

There have been several polls conducted regarding FERC-specific kit, but the demand has always been too low to merit producing anything, because of all the different shapes and sizes we'd need to provide for. If any member is willing to organise a hat / badge / tattoo / special handshake, please make yourself known to the committee. Meanwhile, we are happy for you to wear standard Fetch kit.

How is the beneficiary of FERC spare funds chosen?

The application form allows you to make a suggestion for the current year, and the current committee will choose something. In 2008-09, we donated £788.01 to Macmillan Cancer Care. In 2009-10, we donated £235 to Help for Heroes, £200 to The Caterpillar Trust, £200 to The British Heart Foundation, and £200 to Cancer Research.

What happens if FERC draws members away from local clubs?

FERC is now into its third year, and has about 100 members - and if anything, our appalling customer service has encouraged people to join their local clubs instead. If this is something that still worries you, please contact ferc@fetcheveryone.com

Can I record my first/second claim clubs in my FE profile?

Yup. Just go to About You > Club, and you can set both. Your first claim club will be the one used in most areas of the site, but your user profile will show your first and second claim club.

I want to change my first claim club to/from FERC

You need to start by getting hold of this form. Heaven knows, it all seems a bit complicated really.

I have a question that's not listed here. What do I do?

Send your question to Fetch via the ferc@fetcheveryone.com, and the FERC committee will do its best to answer as quickly as possible.
