I've added a new league table to the 'Leaderboards' sub-menu. It replaces the 'Rowing' table* which, as you might imagine, was specific to rowing. This new table gives you a monthly and annual league for *whatever* cross training you do.
Measuring cross training is not as simple as running. For some sports, it's the amount of time you spend doing it that gives a better measure. So in addition to a distance option, you can also sort the table by the number of hours logged; or by the number of days on which you trained. It goes against the spirit of it obviously, but for the first time in the 21+ years of Fetcheveryone, you can now get competitive about your yoga
The table will regenerate once a day - so if you're the first person to view a particular table on a particular day, it might take a few seconds to render. But for any subsequent nerding, it should be pretty snappy.
My cross training is gym, rowing and cricket - but I'd be interested to see what you find when you check out the table for your own stuff.
Here's the link:
fetcheveryone.com/league-crosstraining.php
As always, suggestions for improvements are welcome - either in this blog (where I may seize upon them and hastily make them reality, or may forget about them), or via the Feature Request system (likewise)
*The old rowing league page is still there, just not linked to in the menu - but if you join us on the indoor rowing thread fetcheveryone.com/forum/indoor-rowing-60338/ there *is* a link in its 'Useful Links' section.

Just a quicky.
I guess because of their relationship with $trava, Garmin have insisted on third party sites displaying watch models on training entries. You might have noticed this on your log.
I thought I may as well make use of the data. So here's a league table showing the most popular models by number of users:
fetcheveryone.com/league-watches.php
It's based on the last 14 days of activity at present (I might adjust it to a longer time period when we've got more data). So you can maybe see which models are on the rise, and which are sinking. And it'll be interesting to look at this table just after Christmas and see if Father Christmas brought a bunch of snazzy new watches for folks.
There are Amazon links against some of them (the missing ones in the top half of the table are where the model is maybe a bit old but clearly durable). My links earn me 4% of whatever you purchase - so if you're planning to buy something, please either use an available link, or if I don't have your model, please drop me a line and I'll generate one for you. You can find this table on the 'Leaderboards' page if you want to come back to it.

I have taken a lot of pictures this year. I have some that I've been meaning to upload here to finish off my blogs about our trip to Malaysia - but I got out of the habit of doing those (note to self: must finish them). But I'll go with photos that I've uploaded.
The first quarter of the year was dominated by trying to get the flooded house finished off and sold. Hard to believe that from the date of the flood to the final resolution was at least 18 months. The building company used by the insurers got a lot wrong. Anyway, here's how it was looking around Christmas time last year. The good news is that the actual sale process was relatively stress free, and someone has a nice blank canvas of a house to build a future. After well over a decade of having to support two households, which was financially and mentally a strain at times, I am very grateful that life is simpler for us now.
My other big project this year was getting back into cricket after a 20+ year hiatus. This blog could have been five pictures of different bruises I've picked up over the course of the season
On the field, results were mixed. I got one fifty, and some lower scores
I dropped quite a few catches. I took one off my own bowling, the only time they trusted me to bowl. I got shunted around between sides, sometimes feeling like I was making up the numbers. But I've met dozens of players, and overall had an enjoyable time. One sad thing was that Covid, food allergies and the like have put paid to cricket teas for our level of cricket. Apart from in my very first game! Where they put on a lovely tea
So here it is in all its glory:
In August, after completing the sale of the flood house, and losing two more that we'd bid on, we finally found our new home - somewhere that I'm expecting we'll be for a VERY LONG TIME. We're in a little village with a population of about 250, with fields beyond the house (and a train line and river beyond that). When we moved in, the weather had been hot and dry for weeks - so everything was looking parched - but it's recovered nicely since. Here's our first morning (I am writing this from the garden office you see on the left):
Just a few weeks after moving in, we were off to Malaysia for a big holiday. We'd had some money from K's dad and stepmum when they passed - and K has always wanted to recreate their trip to see orangutans in the wild. I took SO many pictures on that trip - and it's really hard to pick just one. But I'll go with the one that I tend to scroll through my phone to show people when I'm talking about our trip. It's not the best photo, taken on my six year old phone, in the dark - but the moment was sensational. It's a stork billed kingfisher, sleeping on a branch. We got about 6ft away from it, and it didn't budge an inch. It was either the kingfisher or the 'vegetarian meat floss', but I'm saving that for a future blog
And to finish off, it's the Boy. Into his second year at university, and settling in to his overdraft nicely. He's involved with the American Football team - not getting a lot of match action, but enjoying the sport. And seemingly having a great time with his house mates.
Seeing as how everyone seems to be disregarding the five picture limit, you can have a bonus one. It's from Malaysia. Is it a beautiful animal, or a stunning view? Does it illustrate Malaysian culture, or encapsulate everything about our holiday? No. It's a shaving kit from our hotel that was captioned "Enter as strangers, leave as friends". Makes me laugh every time I see it.

...here are some of my favourite Blue Steel pictures from Saturday's challenge.
First up, @RRR-CAZmas 🇬🇧 is a tracksuited love god in a traditional pose straight out of Kay's Catalogue:
Next, @Yorkshire Pie takes a powerful sip of coffee. I'm imagining that her left hand is not holding the camera, but instead confidently placed on her hip as she caffeines up.
@Irritating Tinsel Garb 🇮🇸 has nailed the cheeky style, and that perfect balance between "is that hood coming up or going down?":
And I haven't seen @Mrs Jigs (Luverlylegs) in a while, but the move up north has definitely done wonders for her hair:
Likewise, for @Jigs - the hat says "let's do lunch", but the eyes say "you're paying":
Back before AI was a thing, @cerid illustrates a trick used by Hollywood starlets of old, to make those eyes literally pop:
I have to include this for the impeccable power stance and the fifty yard stare - a lethal combo by @mk parkrun - and it's the first time I've seen him in shoes without toes!
I'm not sure if @BareHeadEm and @ishep were aiming to join in - but the juxtaposition of "hello there" and "why sir!" caught my eye.
Hat's off (and on) to relative newcomer @Bogul for this intense shot. Note the angle of the eyebrows; and the background additions of the Rhubarb & Ginger Whitley Neill bottle (complete with the bottle lights they did as a promo a few years back), and the turntable art on the wall. Whatever he's selling, you'd best buy it:
Memories by @DoricQuine - comes in a tartan diffuser - spray a bit of that behind your ears for a sensational evening.
I'll include @MaltDrinker here for a good attempt, but he hasn't quite landed the quintessentially British 'double teapot' sported by #635.
I'm really very sorry for all those that I missed out - but the world of high fashion is absolutely RUTHLESS! Thank you to all who took part - I loved seeing the pics come in. I hope this blog gives you an idea of what's expected - and I'm already looking forward to the next time we do this one

On most race listings now, you'll see an option towards the bottom titled 'Other Events At This Venue'. This will show you (a) other distances on the same day for the event you were looking at; and (b) matches based on location. The latter only extends about half a mile - but should be enough to capture a bit of variation in dot-placing.
I've found it to be pretty handy for pulling together all the variations in titling that people have used over the years e.g.
Radwell 10k
Radwell 10k
Radwell 10km
Radwell 10
Radwell 10k Road Race
The Global Hypermegacorps Radwell 10k
When I see a race that I'm interested in, it only takes a couple of mins to amend all the variations so that they use the most common variant. Once that's done, the server is able to pull together all the blogs, ratings and race leaderboards into one place. So this is just a hint to tidy up your local / favourite races
The other thing I'm looking at is the review system. Over the last few years, only about a third of races have been reviewed by participants. This could well be down to the fact that there are currently 24 criteria - and one of the rules of making good web is that every extra thing you ask someone to fill in will reduce the likelihood that they'll do so
So I'm wondering about reducing that to a much simpler five criteria:
Recommendable
Value for money
PB Potential
Scenery
Results
It would be good to hear your thoughts on that in the comments, OR you can just indicate your view in this poll:
In theory, all of the criteria could be replaced by just that first one

Looking at one race in my race list, "Other Events At This Venue" has done a good job of pulling together all the variations. There are definitely too many criteria! A free text box would be useful so you can say ‘there were portaloos galore!’ Or ‘I had to go behind a bush’ or something. Also value for money is highly subjective too, some people will cough up for an IM but others begrudge paying for the costs of road closures, and all the expensive logistics of a big race. Attention: Hotmail / Live / MSN / Outlook / Microsoft email users
11:29am, 2 Dec 2025
Fetcheveryone sends a fair bit of email to users - and as a result, I have to deal with quite a lot of 'Out of Office', 'Mailbox Unavailable' and 'Mailbox Full' messages. And I've noticed a trend that you should be wary of - particularly it seems if you have a Microsoft email address (some variants listed in the blog title).
Most email addresses these days allow you to forward your mail somewhere else. Here's why that's a bit dangerous:
1) a scammer happens to get hold of the password to your email account.
2) they set up a rule so that copies of all your emails get forwarded to an email address of their choice. You don't notice this, because you still have all your regular emails in your account.
3) They then go to various popular websites, enter your email address, and click 'Forgot Password'.
4) You get an email with a password reset link, but crucially, so would the scammer.
5) The scammer follows the link, resets your password and now has access to a website dressed as you.
It's possible that you might realise that someone has accessed your email. You might change your password and think that's everything sorted. But that forwarding link still exists - so the scammer can still keep doing steps 3-5 until the forwarding link is removed!
I figured this out when I started getting "Mailbox Full" messages where the recipient bore no resemblance to the intended recipient. For example, I might send "KatieB's Training Week"* to Katie's legit email, but I then get a "Mailbox Full" message from scammyb*stard666@whatever.something. I have tried to contact a few Fetchies where I've noticed this happen to them - but I figured it's worth making as many people aware of it as I can. Thus far I have only seen it with Microsoft-owned email addresses - but in principle it could happen to any email address where forwarding is possible.
*No KatieB's were harmed in this incident.
So what do I do?
Check your email account for forwarding rules. If you see that your emails are being forwarded to an email address you don't recognise, this could well be a scammer in action. It should be fairly straightforward to remove the forwarding rule - and if so, you should also update your email password whilst you're at it. If you're totally stuck, feel free to drop a comment.
