-----------------UPDATE 14/09/09--------------------------
Other news from today...bit of a brain splurge but hopefully you'll get the idea that the organisation is coming along nicely :-)
We visited the track today and started planning out how to run the day. It looks like a BIG Fetch Fest and we'll have it well planned and well organised.
The plan is to have a published race schedule so that everyone can time their warmups and food, and nip off to the cafe when they see fit. Each runner will get a "Call forward time" when they will have to be in position ready to go and a "start time" when they......erm....start :-) This allows everyone to manage their food and warmups, nip off to the cafe, cheer on friends, etc. This won't be "fastest first race-slowest last race" but races mixed up with the kids mile in the middle to keep them interested. Each race should have a group
There will be a maximum of 15 per race, depending on how many runners enter. This allows for 8 mile races, then the 200 and 60m races. The mile is 9meters plus 8 laps of the track....we'll keep you right on the lap counting.
The 60m race will be heats and a final - who is the fastest Fetchie????????????
The entry to the race is via the sports centre at the English Institute of Sport and the National Squash Centre. Parkng will be in car park 2, you will need a parking permit or you will have to pay £5 for parking...these will be emailed out nearer the time for people to print on their own.
The mile finish will be a bit like a parkrun, you'll funnel off to the side after crossing the line and get a token with your finishing position on it....you take that to the folk on the computers once you've got your breath back...andthey will record your time. The times will be printed out and pinned to the notice board asap after each race.
We need to keep people off the track so once the warmup and chat is done when we arrive we'll ask people to clear the track. We will have a dedicated warmup area in the middle of the track for peope doing the next race while one is on and we'll ask nicely for everyone else to stay on the outside of the track..thanks.
...no pacing as the track will be too crowded...sorry
...dedicated changing and showers for Fetch use only so don't use the sports centre changing
...cafe with a view of the track so you can snack and watch
...There are lockers for valuables
...The surface is a good running track and spikes are allowed up to 6mm
...The event is uninsured and is a friendly fun run, you run at your own risk
...All kids must be supervised and the parents are responsble for their running
...There are vending machines for water and juices, lucozade etc.
...No food is allowed in the indoor track (drinks are ok)
...Marshalls will have to be at the track early for a dry run race to check things work ok
...The cafe will open at 12 for Fetchies and Friends
...There will be no entry to the track before 1 unless you are a marshall/helper so if you arrive early wait in the cafe and relax
...There are 2 registered first aiders on the day, me and Cheshire Lady
***Things for you to do***
...Get your entry in soon so we can plan waves and timings
...Make a realistic predicted finish
...Can I ask you please if there is a runner that you particularly want to run with then please fmail me and we'll look after you.
...Fmail me with the race number you'd like
...No entries on the day, sorry
...Fmail me any changes to race stuff as soon as you can
...Please Fmail me if you need disabled parking - this *MUST* be booked in advance and a named space will be kept for you.
...Is anyone else first aid qualified and happy to help?
We'll be able to make changes to the start lists and plans right up to Christmas but eventually we'll get things moving.
